Inspired by the sea of Shonan in Japan, this painting captures a morning when light begins to spread across the horizon. In the humid coastal air, sunlight does not simply shine—it moves through the sky in radiant beams over the ocean.
The title The Song comes from the sound of the sea and from the feeling of a traditional Japanese kouta, a short song that carries a simple but lasting emotion. The rhythm of the waves and the movement of light across the water suggested this sense of music.
Painted using both my fingers and a palette knife, the surface holds splashes of color and textured movement that echo light dancing on the sea. The horizontal composition reflects the openness of the ocean and the rhythm of waves under the morning sky.
This piece brings brightness and living energy into a space while holding the strength and movement of the sea.
