The first time I saw a red-crested cardinal was at the airport in Hawaiʻi, its red so bright against a white body I'd never seen before.
The sea I know in Shonan, Japan looks different: dark sand, heavier grey water, a wind that never really settled. In Hawaiʻi, the air felt lighter and my mind, usually running with thoughts stacking on thoughts, finally went quiet. There was only that blue in front of me.
Built up with a palette knife in bold, textured color, it's meant to feel alive rather than simply decorative.
Somewhere you'll see it often, at home or anywhere you go to slow down, it's a reminder to breathe out.
