Returning to the same places again and again can feel completely different from the first time.
Sometimes something we barely noticed before moves us deeply when we see it again. The place has not changed, but something within us has.
I think it has a lot to do with how open we are to what is around us. The more open we feel, the more we notice and experience. When we are tired, even feeling something beautiful can take effort.
Yet maybe those are the moments when we need beauty the most.
Sometimes, all we want to do is lie down in our room and look at a painting for a while, without trying to think about anything. We may not feel anything special at first. That is all right, too. Simply looking at something beautiful can be a pleasure in itself, a little nourishment for the eyes.
As we rest and gradually feel more open again, the painting may begin to look different. We notice something we had not seen before. A colour catches our attention. A detail draws us in. It is the same painting, yet there is something new to discover.
Having something beautiful in the space where we live brings a sense of richness to everyday life. We do not always need to seek out new places or new experiences. Sometimes, there is already something worth discovering right in front of us.
